Angel Valverde

 

Mr. Valverde concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, international litigation and arbitration. Mr. Valverde is familiar with the legal system and culture of Latin America. Therefore, he has the ability to advise individuals and multinational corporations in their business dealings and potential disputes in Latin America, combining his common law training and experience with his knowledge of civil law.

 

Mr. Valverde has substantial experience in transnational litigation, international arbitration, and corporate law, gained while working in Venezuela, France, and the United States.  In Venezuela, his practice involved multiple civil disputes and commercial transactions.  In France, he worked at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the international arbitration department of Shearman & Sterling LLP, and in the white-collar litigation and arbitration department of Dechert LLP.  In the United States, he worked at a major international firm, as a paralegal in complex product liability cases.    

 

Mr. Valverde earned his first law degree in 2000 from the Universidad Santa Maria in Venezuela. Thereafter, Mr. Valverde pursued a specialization in Venezuelan corporate law at Venezuela’s Universidad Metropolitana and in 2004 was afforded the equivalent of a U.S. LLM. Moreover in 2005, Mr. Valverde received his Master of Laws in Comparative Law from The University of Miami.  He continued his education at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he received his juris doctor degree, in 2008.

 

Aside from Mr. Valverde’s professional career, he is passionate about giving back to the legal community in Florida. He is the co-founder of “Future of Arbitration: Miami!” a networking group established to promote international arbitration in Florida. Additionally, he is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF); the Young International Arbitration Group of the London Court of International Arbitration (YIAG LCIA); the Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS); the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA); the International Law Section of the Florida Bar; and of the American Bar Association (ABA).

 

Mr. Valverde is admitted to practice in Venezuela, Florida, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and is fluent in Spanish and English.
